I'm guessing that I'm far from the only one going for a drive somewhere this Thanksgiving. I'll be leaving tonight, and driving overnight and then back. I felt the need to create a playlist with music that would keep me alert but calm; upbeat but thoughtful. I also wanted to create a playlist that would make me feel a little nostalgic, as I head to the first Thanksgiving with an actual family (not mine - just someone who invited me and jokes that he's "adopted" me and his niece) for several years.

What are your Thanksgiving road trip playlists?

It's not a playlist but I have this Sevendust - Decay stuck in my head.

Enjoy.

On long road trips, I sometimes listen to certain bands while driving through their home turf. If I'm in PA, I'll put on Fuel, Breaking Benjamin, Live... even Innerpartysystem. Passing through VA, Dave Matthews. GA, Sevendust. So on and so forth. Or even scan the local radio stations for something that sounds appropriate to where I am... which, sadly, usually results in pop country music and Jesus radio. Your mileage may vary.
